Papier

I found this petite-patterned paper at Collage on NE Alberta. The store is a great place for the super crafty. Paper punches, beads, stamps and other trinkets overflow. I understand the accessories can bring all kinds of jollity, but I prefer just to focus on the paper. Textures, qualities, and colors... I'll be entertained for hours.

The fall of plan B

Plan A is to catch the 7:19 bus to Rose Quarter. That's always the plan for my morning. But nowadays it seems my plans are made only for the sake of planning and plan B no longer just backup. Plan B is the new plan A. Anyway. The 7:19 gets me to work on time with fewer transfers.

Plan B is the 7:26, which used to come at 7:24, driven by a ruddy fellow with a boyish face. He reminded me of the kid in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory who falls into a sea of chocolate gluttony. I don't know what happened to that driver, but I hope he fell to a gluttonous demise. Seems like that would be better than bussin it for Tri-Met.

Getting to work by the 7:26 is a bit more complicated- a delicate process of buses running on time and walking a certain number of blocks at the right speed to catch the transfers. With Big Ruddy it used to work out well.

Now the 7:26 usually rolls around at 7:30 under the care of a sweet but slow woman who I suspect just wandered on one day and somebody plopped her in the driver seat. I like her because she always waits for me when I'm running frantically toward the stop. But the kindness in her nature comes at the expense of her schedule, and by consequence, my schedule.

Time to outline plan C.

Fresh from the yard

Look at that delightful lettuce! These leafies were the first produce from our new raised veggie bed to become lunch. And what a tasty salad it was. Still growing: peas, spinach, tomatoes, basil, and one lonesome carrot (sadly, his brothers and sisters didn't survive the squirrel attack). The anticipation makes my belly rumble.

Festivities!

Off to Toronto this weekend with the entire family to celebrate the 60 year anniversary of my grandma and grandpa. She was barely out of high school, he was fresh out of the air force when they got married. They say the secret is to never go to bed angry and always kiss each other goodbye. It seems to have worked for them. Congratulations!

Yo amo español

Here I am at the end of my beginner's course, wondering why didn't I do this before? I love speaking in Spanish! When the sentences come out right, it's like someone has dipped my tongue in melted chocolate.

Observe.

La profesora está en la escuela. Ellá es alto.

Do you see why this is so titillating? Try on another one.

Está lloviendo. Yo estoy el paraguas azul con pepitas.

Oh! I feel a bit feverish.
