I prefer cheerful people

At the office where I work, we have a different doctor almost every clinic day. It may be two months or more before one will return a second time. They are a variety of physicians, from orthopods to neurologists, with an array of personalities-- very much the proverbial box of chocolates.

For today's clinic we had the most delightful person, one who shakes your hand and looks you in the eye, makes jokes and laughs loudly. It's surprising what a wonderful effect his pleasantry had on our normally irritable patients (though it's not their fault that they come in grumpy). I have never seen so many leave smiling. If only there were more people like him around, doctors and otherwise.
