It's almost indescribable the bliss that comes from having the right meal at the right moment. I'm not talking cravings here. This isn't a pickles and ice cream for pregnant people situation. What I mean is finding the perfect nutrition, the perfect setting, the perfect company for the ultimate gastronomical experience.

I remember so vividly from my early years the ham and cheese sandwiches with mustard we would have on a lunch break from downhill skiing in Colorado. My family would gather around the back end of the van with the sun glaring off the snow, and the cold dry air reddening our noses and munch on carrot sticks and orange slices until we went up the lifts again.

Tonight it was the Tao of Tea with its wooden spoons and clay pots. Leaning in close to the table and talking in quiet voices about the greater questions of the universe. We had the dal with basmati rice, yams with lime, and lightly salted soy beans; earthy tea and a soul movement.

This reminds me of the perfect lunch when I was young. The family would go on trips to the mountains and on the days we'd go sight-seeing, we'd stop by the side of the road and eat this really simple sandwiches; small rolls, mustard, ham, turkey, cheese, and chips. I know exactly what you're talking about.
