You can hardly call me a bike commuter. I've ridden to work twice, and although I FEEL hardcore in my sweet-action getup, my honey has kindly pointed out that I am definitely NOT hardcore, mostly due to the fact that I spent twenty minutes coordinating my outfit with the new helmet.
Nonetheless, I am biking to work and so far I love it.
What I expected and got: a much calmer way to get to and from, with morning traffic and hospital parking eliminated, and the use of my body for something other than just working the stickshift.
What I expected but did not get: extra worries about arriving on schedule, thinking that bike timing would not be as consistent as car timing.
What I did not expect but got: a greater connection with the outside world, including the sights of springtime and indeed the elements of weather. It should be noted here that simply taking a towel to dry one's bike seat after it rains is a faulty plan of action. Bike seats absorb water.
What I did not expect and did not get: more shapely than I was two days ago.
