A hot pocket and a mango

A commentary on my lunch.

First, let me address the hot pocket. Yes I know they're bad for me. Yes I feel silly every time I take one out of the microwave and sit down to eat it in front of my coworkers. Still I eat them because I like them and find them to be a satisfying yet easy lunch.

It should be noted, however, that for me a hot pocket must be a pepperoni pizza hot pocket. I do not eat ham and cheese, broccoli and cheese, four cheese, philly cheese steak, or meatball. I also do not eat lean pockets because they make my stomach ache. A person has to have some standards.

Second, the mango. I believe strongly in rejecting mangoes that are out of season or not perfectly ripe, and we should not be wasting resources on bringing subpar mangoes to non-tropical locations. In addition, mangoes, like bananas and avocados and other such edibles, should never be ripened chemically.

Today's mango, however, was perfectly in line with my mango ethics and a lovely addition to my hot pocket.

I have a bunch of Hot Pockets in my freezer, but they are not an every day meal. Like you said, only when I wish for a fast and convienant - shove in the microwave and nuke for 2 minutes-type of lunch. But unlike you, I like variety in my Hot Pockets.
