London - Week Two

If I want a career as a successful podiatrist, I will definitely open business in London. Every day I wear a different pair of shoes to rotate the burgeoning blisters, and to let different parts of my feet have a chance of being in pain for the day. One can only imagine what it's like for people who've lived here for years. But then, they probably know a bunch of shortcuts to save walking time.

Not me, I'm still just trying to arrive at the intended places. My school has opened up a lot of new opportunities for me to get lost. The main building is under renovation right now, so our classes are held at different locations each session. Even though I might have figured out where to go for my "Foundations in Reproductive Health" class last Monday, I'll be able to search for it again next time!

Ezra was here this week to wander the city with me and help me get settled. We moved my four suitcases out of Marc and Evie's and into the new flat, and we went out for pizza four times. That is not including the time we had a Dutch pancake impersonating a pizza. It's not that we don't appreciate bangers and mash, fish and chips and other British meat and potato combos, but there's just something about mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil that feels good after a long day on your feet. A tomato a day keeps the bunions away. Isn't that what they say?

One of my favourite t-shirt slogans of all time was in a tourist trap in the Algarve. "Pizza is like sex. When it's good, it's very good. And when it's bad, it's still OK"

Oh, and a trick you see a lot of women using is to have a comfortable pair of walking shoes (try the outdoor shops in and around Southampton Street Covent Garden - some have sale shoes, too) and switch to more fashioable/smart ones on arrival. Enjoy London!
