With international attentions and bated breath on the Roman conclave, anything papal is news. Like all newsworthy events, it's the people on the sidelines that make the most compelling stories. A cameo from the New York Times News Service was particularly delightful: the pope's tailor. He's got all the latest in Catholic liturgical wear from the signature red for cardinals to a tweed option for priests "whose tastes run professional." Filippo Gammarelli however, who comes from a centuries-long legacy of pontifical clothiers, is focused only on the next big kahuna. He's got six vestal-white cassocks awaiting, silken or wool, in small, medium and large.
