Oh Canada

Lest any of us thought Canada was a follower, nationally, it has officially legalized gay marriage, and is only the third country to do so (after Belgium and the Netherlands).

"We are a nation of minorities and in a nation of minorities, it is important that you don't cherry pick rights. A right is a right and that is what this vote tonight is all about," Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin said.

it's been pointed out before, but... isn't it ridiculous that american PRISONERS are allowed to marry while IN prison because it's considered a basic human right, but yet gay people aren't allowed to?!?! i picture a mass-murderer who's in jail, and the brother of one of his victims outside jail, and george bush saying "well mr. mass-murderer you get to marry that girl you like, but i'm sorry to say mr. brother-of-the-victim that you cannot marry your boyfriend"

in other news, i got your phone message but i'm in chico for the weekend and couldn't call you back because i don't have your phone number on me. i'll call you when i return though!

Right on. It's only the third country out of what 160 or so, but it's a start.
