Before abstract thought

My age: about seven. My belief: being in debt means you end up in prison, homeless, or controlled by some menacing mobster-like government official who would force you to kill in order to repay. You can see now why I practically fainted out of horror at my mother's response to my innocent question, Mom, are we in debt? She said, "Oh, up to our ears."
