Hairy problem

A few years ago I had a fantastic hairstylist named Janet. She was funny and our conversations never felt forced or awkward. More importantly, she did a consistently great job on my hair. There's nothing more cosmetically traumatizing than a bad cut, and from the moment we met, I trusted her.

Then one Friday I scheduled an appointment for the following Tuesday, and when I showed up to the salon, it was closed. Just like that. No phone call to cancel. No sign. In fact, it was so sudden, I wondered if I had come on the wrong day. I left messages on their voice mail, but no one returned the calls. I was never able to find Janet again.

Ever since I've been lost in a sea of forgettable hairstylists. Then I found Patti. We haven't gotten to know each other much yet, and she hasn't started predicting what I might want done with my hair. But I like her, and I'm always happy with the voodoo she does so well.

The only problem is she's super busy. She stopped working Saturdays and she's always booked out at least three weeks. And I'm not the type of person who likes to schedule in advance. I prefer to wait until my mane is completely unruly and unbearable and then call.

So now the dilemma. Do I risk seeing someone else that may or may not make wonk me out, or do I wait for the one I know will give me what I need?

Life is full of hard-knock decisions.

I wasn't used to calling in advance for my haircuts, but now, I have no choice. The girl I go to is awesome. We have great conversations and she does an awesome job. I pretty much guesstimate when my hair is going to need a cut and make my appt. 3 weeks in advance. But I have to say, going to great stylist is worth the advance appointments.
